If this is the end of all things, we have too far to go, watching the skies collapse with our tools still in hand, We had too many chances, too many crossroads we went the wrong way, will we ever make it back, When the clouds of smoke black out the sun, Can we stay warm by the fires of our burning cities, bring on the rain and watch it all crumble, When all of the gates have been locked, sealed away in their mountain bunkers, we’ll finally get our chance to rule, inheriting a timebomb, ticking away the last seconds, Our final moments of beauty, joining together to welcome oblivion, Raining down Armageddon, we can finally reflect, no one will be saved, we all held our cards til the bitter end, A draw, a stalemate, a bluff never called, It’s fruitless to hide, let’s join hands and suffocate together as a failed race, our blip in time soon covered in ash, We were the parasite, we were the plague,
2.
They’ve come for things they don’t understand, Fear hits home as their hourglasses run out of sand, Grasping - Pale Boney Fingers, They burned the witches, then became their avatars, The scent of the grave always calling out, You’re right to stumble, watching your back, Heed your own fable, the writing is on the wall, the future isn’t only the one you see, The unborn your only priority, Vultures, Vultures, watching and waiting, the stench of decay always filling their noses, You’re dragging and dragging atrophied limbs, how much longer til you shoot all the hostages, Fables, always fables, spilling out of your mouth, Fables, always fables, it’s clear you don’t believe what comes off your tongue, Forget your holiday, gambled away your severance pay, Wipe out the clots of blood from your eyes, Your lack of empathy is no surprise.

Crumbled leaves drift over their headstones, bands of worshippers tearing each other apart, prerogative surviving the fall, but winter winds bring no changes at all, Will - ourselves to hold it together Stay - so they can have their freedoms We're married to the dreams, painted so well, behind all the gloss a hollow shell, We think we're worthy, but we're far from holy, worked so hard to change my thoughts, but they're little black worms burrowed into my skull, Looks like the world is ending (Fires burning bright) And here I thought it was just the beginning (the day stealing night) Don’t bother there’s no tomorrow (the sky doesn't fall) All the time we have left for our sorrow (the dead ones call) All the days we had to change our opinion, going back now would mean admitting we're wrong, we're propped up on pride flying on wings of stars and stripes, The dead show the way, as bleak as it may be, we can only lace decrepit hands, and hope we all will see, a future without the streets, empty and abandoned,

Internal War 04:37
We've come so far, timelines filled with our progressions, Crawled from the water and back to control the oceans, The only thing left in our way is ourselves, Is this where it ends, I don't have a lot of hope but there's a fire inside that keeps me afloat, We don't have a lot of time, to wallow in our greed again, We can't keep playing the fool, we must look beyond our comfort, And open our eyes to the fires all around, Can we drop our ideals, can we change our minds, we validate each other in our seas of filth so deep we suffocate, Born to a full moon, but we missed the warning signs, the years of lean we never expected our eyes pulsing from the saturation, chemically imbalanced hormones of the swine,
5.
It cracks beneath my feet, only splinters remain, but I'll spew as I lose my balance, moving the mask from my mouth to my eyes, carrying the weight of the influenced, Will their tithes dry up as they flee like rats, will I always have a voice, The wilderness is no place for me, I must be seen, I must talk of the great escapes, I must be heard But my lifeblood is my vanity, hold me up by my fragile psyche, We're all witnesses to the greatest injustice of our time, when I didn't get my way, burn the city, cry in outrage, start the hate machine, We'll be remembered by our response, so join me in disdain, the system is flawed, trying to keep us alive, let's choke out our last breaths together, I'm sure we won't be alone, I watch them flee like rats, on my plastic soapbox
6.
There’s always a beginning but the end is what we see, The journey a painful memory, There’re always choices along the way, but some paths never cross to the infinite opportunities, When did we become oppressive with our structures, Have they always been there, our inner demons at play, When will we become intentional with our response, shunning, shutting down, locking our thoughts, If they'd just try harder, they could change their melanin and see what it's like to wear the white collar, White collar dreams, In their own reality, We are all equal, In this caste system, But dreams fade as we grow, learning reality and how it's made, We are all equal in this caste system If you look the part, if you say the right words, just forget the past, you can be one of us, We are all equal in this caste system.
7.
Waning 04:35
It can’t last forever, it comes and goes like the seasons, One moment the passion cannot be contained, another it wilts, You can force the feeling and live with the results, or let it wane and learn to be without, But can you look him in the eyes and say you'll no longer try, Can you feel the withering, the waning, But we won’t live forever, our time is shorter than ever, our moments are so fleeting, we waste to keep the ritual, Can you feel it, the withering, the waning, What is left to be done when you've doused the embers, Sweep away the coal, wash your skin of the soot, Search for the fire through the dark, search for the breath that will ignite, You can't live without it, You can't live without it.
8.
Marred 05:12
You always had the time but did anyone hear what you were saying, You always had the insight, brushed aside like a second class, As my memories I have of you fade away, I will always know what it’s like to catch your eye, As the images you left get erased, I won’t forget the ones you showed us, You were neglected til you died, but will she ever pay for her crimes, Is she haunted every day, hearing your last breaths as she prays,
9.
Fables, always fables spilling out of your mouth, Vultures always waiting for your old bones,
10.
Surrogate 03:16
I’ve grown the spines from betrayal, black veins snakes their way up my arms, Injected with the blood of the (willfully) ignorant, that crossed too many lines, I’ve seen the signs, Crawling on ruined knees, A Joker’s smile, that never fades, Keeping sanity at bay, Wash your fears, blood and body, pay your penance, Binge and purge the chemicals, til the cocktail is right, Test Tube, Latchkey, Peaceful destroyer, Bastard, orphan, illegitimate citizen, The survival of the weakest, native aliens, underwater dwelling, This is nothing more than policy, we can turn our heads, break the ground, cut the tape, christen your hate speech, But I’ve got too many scars to remember where they all came from, Calling back memories buried for protection from the sleeping demons of the past, Coddled til they grew like members of the family, Wash my fears, blood of my body, penance is paid, Purged and clean, from the chemicals, eyesight finally clear, Test Tube, Latchkey, Peaceful destroyer, Bastard, orphan, illegitimate citizen,
11.
They all fell, I didn’t have to watch them, I knew it all along, I begged them to follow in my steps, I clawed and cried, but still they faded before I realized, I was alone, I’ll stay til the knowing one, let’s me in, his hand on my shoulder, guiding me, I’ll wait til the cold hardens my bones, because this is the only home I’ve ever know, They still appear, and I can hear them laughing, from their dens of iniquity, as the snow covers my head, Her voice is soft, come into the warmth, but my nightmares keep her away, I’ll stay til the knowing one, let’s me in, no hand on my shoulder, but I know it’s there, I’ll wait til the cold hardens my bones, because this is the only home I’ve ever know, My hand on the door, his name fate, I can open up, my decision to make.

about

EL CARO North Carolina

Red Herrings swimming in your blood stream, foundations built on fallacies,

Troubles float away, when you take the face,
Of those in your way, Others have no names

We were the parasite, we were the plague

The human virus, sweeping in like a wave of violent apathy

A step of faith into a pit of snakes

A mirror for your hate. A microscope for what you love
